Developing and encouraging good practice with the highways industry
What is HELG

The Highways Efficiency Liaison Group (HELG) is a whole industry advisory group, representing the full range of organisations which constitute the highways industry. This includes central and local government, service providers and professional bodies, making HELG the only organisation of its kind in the UK.

Due to its unique membership, HELG has the strength and ability to both support and influence the highways industry, both directly and in partnership with member organisations. This means that HELG is truly an effective facilitator of change and good practice within the highways industry.

HELG enjoys and has a history of good will and support within the sector. This will continue to develop as HELG becomes an established institution with the highways industry, providing highways advice and expertise to Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships (RIEPs), and local authorities.

The CLG publication ‘Delivering Value for Money in Local Government: Meeting the Challenge of CSR07’ identifies key organisations and the support structure for Councils. HELG is the only one related to highways.
